    摘要: A display element (100) corresponds to a pixel of a display. The display element includes a top electrode (102) connected to a first addressable line of the display, and a bottom electrode (104) connected to a second addressable line of the display. The display element includes a display mechanism (106) situated between the top electrode and the bottom electrode and having a number of individually turned-on steps. Each individually turned-on step has a turn-on voltage threshold at which the step is turned on upon a voltage applied between the top and the bottom electrodes equal to or greater than the turn-on voltage threshold. Each individually turned-on step has a turn-off voltage threshold at which the step is turned off upon a voltage applied between the top and the bottom electrodes equal to or less than the turn-off voltage threshold.

    摘要: A display element corresponds to a pixel of a display. The display element includes a first electrode connected to a first addressable line of the display, and a number of second electrodes, each of which is connected to a corresponding second addressable line of the display. The display element includes a display mechanism situated between the first and the second electrodes, and which has a number of individually turned-on steps organized into a number of groups corresponding to the number of second electrodes. For each group of the individually turned-on steps, each step of the group has a turn-on voltage threshold at which the step is turned on upon a voltage applied between the first electrode and the second electrode to which the group corresponds that is equal to or greater than the turn-on voltage threshold.

    摘要: Among various embodiments of the present disclosure, displaying electrophoretic particles can be performed by configuring an electrophoretic display for directed spreading of electrophoretic particles across a number of substantially planar display electrodes. Such a configuration can be accomplished by controlling planar spreading of the electrophoretic particles in an electrophoretic pixel with an electrical field between an in-plane storage electrode and an in-plane activation electrode. The in-plane activation electrode can be connected to an in-plane display electrode, which extends across a first area in the electrophoretic pixel adjacent to a display aperture having a second area that is substantially coextensive with the first area.
