Abstract: A method and device for producing hot-rolled products in a combined continuous casting and rolling system includes a device for separating and removing. In order to overcome a disruption in production in a part of the system located downstream of the device for separating and removing, the method includes: (a) separating the endlessly produced precursor material into a strand portion with shears; (b) clamping the strand portion; (c) raising the trailing part of the strand portion from the roller table by a raising device, so that the strand portion is drawn away from the shears in the direction of transport; (d) cutting the precursor material into a precursor material portion with the shears; (e) removing the precursor material portion from the roller table, and removing the strand portion until the combined continuous casting and rolling system is ready to operate again.

Abstract: A combined casting and rolling installation and to a method for operating the combined casting and rolling installation. The combined casting and rolling installation comprises a rough-rolling mill train, a discharging device, a first transporting device, a quenching device, and at least one severing device. The rough-rolling mill train is configured to roll a continuously cast hot billet to form a rough-rolled strip. The discharging device is downstream of the rough-rolling mill train with respect to a conveying direction of the rough-rolled strip. The severing device is between the rough-rolling mill train and the discharging device and cuts up a first sub-portion of the rough-rolled strip into a rough-rolled strip piece. The discharging device discharges the rough-rolled strip piece. The first transporting device connects the severing device to the quenching device and transports the rough-rolled strip piece to the quenching device, which is configured to quench the rough-rolled strip piece.

Abstract: A six-high rolling (also known as sexto) mill stand that is suited for hot rolling an intermediate strip into a thin strip that is less than 0.8 mm thick. A combined casting and rolling installation that includes the six-high rolling mill stand allowing for hot rolling in long uninterrupted sequences, without any change of the work rolls to obtain a strip with good geometry due to moderate rolling forces.
