A system and method for providing a personalized shopping experience with a portable computing device (“PCD”) are described. The system and method may include checking-in PCD consumers upon entering an establishment of a merchant. The checking-in of the PCD consumer may include verifying credentials for gaining access to a central mobile payment controller and receiving a merchant identifier corresponding to a merchant from a computer communication's network. Next, a scan of a machine-readable code associated with at least one of a good and a service may be received. Information associated with the machine-readable code may be retrieved from a database. Subsequently, a personalized price for the at least one good or service may be determined by applying one or more rules. The personalized price may be transmitted over a computer communications network to the portable computing device for display to the PCD consumer.
Abstract:
A method for determining an appropriate redemption presentation for a virtual token associated with a stored value account is disclosed. The method may include receiving a request for presenting a redemption presentation of a virtual token and obtaining a merchant identifier associated with the request. The method may further include determining if the request is for one of an on-line transaction and a transaction with a point-of-sale terminal, and if the request is for a transaction with a point-of-sale terminal, then searching a database using the merchant identifier to find one or more redemption presentations of virtual token preferred by a merchant. Subsequently, the one or more redemption presentations of the virtual token may be transmitted over a computer network to a client device.

Systems and methods are provided for managing carbon emission credits associated with a vehicle fueling at a fuel dispensing station. An exemplary method comprises: receiving a request via a communications network for a vehicle fueling transaction at a fuel dispensing station; determining a pump identifier associated with the fuel dispensing station; sending a message to a store controller associated with the pump identifier for a fuel amount dispensed by the fuel dispensing station; receiving the fuel amount from the store controller; receiving on-board diagnostics (OBD) data associated with the vehicle; calculating a carbon emission adjustment based on the OBD data; and determining an estimated carbon emissions amount associated with the vehicle fueling transaction by applying the carbon emission adjustment to a predetermined carbon emissions amount for the fuel amount.

An exemplary method comprises: receiving a request via a communications network for a transaction at a fuel dispensing station; determining a pump identifier associated with the fuel dispensing station; receiving a user selection of a carbon offset for the transaction; sending a message to a store controller associated with the pump identifier for an amount for the selected carbon offset; receiving the amount for the carbon offset; receiving a gas payment amount for the transaction; and initiating processing of a payment comprising the gas payment amount and the amount for the carbon offset.
