    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) of a group of UEs may receive a groupcast retransmission from one or more UEs of the group. For example, a base station may transmit a groupcast transmission to the group of UEs. A first UE of the group of UEs may fail to receive the groupcast transmission and, in response, may transmit a feedback message via a sidelink feedback resource to a second UE of the group of UEs. The feedback message may include a negative acknowledgement (NACK) that indicates the failed reception of the groupcast transmission by the first UE, and the sidelink feedback resource may be indicated by the base station. The second UE may transmit a retransmission of the groupcast transmission to the first UE via a sidelink resource based on receiving the feedback message.

    Abstract: Some techniques described herein provide autonomous modification of a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a grant for a transmission by a user equipment UE. For example, the UE may receive a grant (e.g., a configured grant) indicating a resource allocation and a first MCS for a transmission on the resource allocation. The UE may use the resource allocation for a transmission of a number of transport blocks (e.g., one or more transport blocks), and may use a second MCS, different than the first MCS, for the transmission. In some examples, the second MCS may be a lower MCS, associated with a lower modulation scheme and/or code rate, than the first MCS. Thus, a per-resource-block power consumption of the transmission is decreased by using the second MCS, which provides power savings while reducing or eliminating padding of the uplink communication.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to another UE via a sidelink, a feedback communication associated with a transport block in a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), wherein the feedback communication is transmitted via a sidelink feedback channel that is associated with the PDSCH. The UE may receive, from the other UE, a retransmission of the transport block based at least in part on the feedback communication being transmitted in the sidelink feedback channel that is associated with the PDSCH.
