Abstract: Systems and methods pertain to operating a receiver of wireless signals such as Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals. A correlator is provided to correlate a wireless signal received by the receiver with a device identifier corresponding to a wanted device from which the receiver wants to receive wireless signals, to generate a correlator output. An adaptive acquisition threshold generator generates an adaptive acquisition threshold based on a signal strength of the wireless signal, and a comparator is used to determine if the wireless signal is a wanted signal intended for the receiver, based on a comparison of the correlator output with the adaptive acquisition threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods pertain to a receiver configured to receive and detect convolutionally coded Gaussian frequency-shift keying (GFSK) signals comprising a trellis of branches. The receiver implements a Per-Survivor Processing (PSP) algorithm to generate frequency estimate, phase estimate, and branch metric increment for each branch of a trellis. A Viterbi Algorithm is applied to the trellis for Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE) of information bits. The receiver includes a PSP block comprising a number of blocks equal to the number of branches of the trellis. Each block includes a Phase Corrector, Decision Feedback Demodulator (DFD), and a Frequency Tracking Loop (FTL) to update the PSP variables.

Abstract: A method of joint demodulating and demapping of a digital signal includes receiving a first sequence of the digital signal. The digital signal has a pattern in which a norm of an ideal transmitted sequence of symbols for zero is equal to a norm of an ideal transmitted sequence of symbols for one. The method also includes defining a portion of the first sequence as a third sequence, determining, for each element of a set of the third sequence, one of a real part of a value or an imaginary part of the value of the element, calculating a value for a combination of the determined one of the real part of the value or the imaginary part of the value for the each element of the set, and setting a bit equal to one in response to the value for the combination being less than zero.
