Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for wireless communication by a user equipment, including in one example: receiving a relay characteristic report, wherein the relay characteristic report indicates an intrinsic channel delay of a relay device; determining a channel delay spread of the channel; and transmitting an indication to affect relay device operation based at least in part on the channel delay spread and the intrinsic channel delay of the relay device.
