摘要:
A tool for cementing a liner to the glenoid cavity of a scapula. The tool comprises an elongated, hollow, rigid tube having distal and proximal ends with the distal end of the tube having either an angular portion or a curved portion which has a plurality of openings formed therein. The tube has a length such that the distal end thereof may be positioned in the glenoid vault and so that the proximal end of the tube may be placed in communication with a source of suction. An elongated sleeve member is slidably mounted on the tube and preferably has a sealing gasket at its distal end which may be moved into sealing engagement with the coracoid process around the opening formed therein. A flexible obturator is selectively extended through the tube to clear the tube of debris.
摘要:
A method of cementing a liner to the glenoid cavity of a scapula is disclosed. The method is achieved through the use of an elongated, hollow, rigid tube having an angular or arcuate portion at its distal end and having means at its proximal end for communication with a source of suction.

An ultrasonic inspection apparatus is disclosed for inspecting coextruded plastic sheet as it is produced. The apparatus includes support for the sheet to be inspected and support for an ultrasonic transducer adjacent the surface of said sheet. A housing supports the ultrasonic transducer adjacent the sheet and defines a chamber between the face of the transducer and the surface of the sheet. The chamber is provided with an interfacing fluid so that ultrasonic pulses from the transducer will pass through the fluid into the sheet to be reflected from any interface therein. The ultrasonic transducer and interfacing fluid are moved across the surface of the sheet to permit inspection of the entire sheet. Means are provided within the fluid chamber for directing interfacing fluid substantially transversely across the face of the transducer to remove any air bubbles that may form between the transducer face and the sheet. The ultrasonic pulse echoes received from the sheet may be analyzed to provide an indication of the presence and depth of interfaces in the sheet.

An arthroscopic surgical instrument for repairing capsular disruption associated with shoulder dislocations and subluxations includes an elongated knife, an elongated sleeve which fits telescopically over the knife for sliding movement thereon, a staple adapted for insertion into the sleeve upon removal of the knife and an elongated tamper tool insertable through the sleeve for setting the staple in the shoulder joint. The orthopedic surgical procedure includes inserting an arthroscope into the shoulder for viewing the insertion of the knife into the shoulder capsule. The sleeve is then advanced down over the knife into the capsule whereupon the knife is withdrawn. The sleeve is then shifted to a position over the scapula bone to make a tuck in the capsule. A staple is then inserted into the sleeve and driven through the tuck into the scapula by a tamper tool. The tamper tool, sleeve and arthroscope are then removed from the shoulder girdle to complete the operation.
