Abstract: A laser tube is aligned within a cylindrical fixture using adjustment means therein. Then spaced pads of a cured elastomer are formed between the tube and the inside surface of the fixture, the pads being adherent to the tube and nonadherent to the fixture. Then the tube with the adhered pads thereon is removed from the fixture and inserted into a solid-wall cylindrical envelope having the same size internal diameter as the fixture to form a laser device.
