Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for regeneration of spent ion exchange resins to obtain regenerated ion-exchange resins. The regenerated ion exchange resins can efficiently reduce the total acid number (TAN) of highly acidic crude oils. The present disclosure particularly relates to a method of treatment of spent ion exchange resins using at least one non-acidic crude oil condensate and at least one polar organic solvent.
