Abstract: A package comprises a sterilized, reusable textile item comprising a textile material; a reusable bag comprising a sterilized textile material defining an interior cargo space in which the sterilized textile item is contained; a reusable envelope comprising a folded, sheet of sterilized textile material by which the bag containing the sterilized textile item is entirely enveloped; and a reusable tie comprising an elongate length of a sterilized textile material extending around and securing the envelope onto the bag. A method comprises inserting the textile item into the bag; folding the sheet about the bag; and securing the folded sheet enveloping the bag using the tie. All four components are reusable of the packaging including the textile item. The package preferably constitutes mono material packaging.

Abstract: Packaging methods include inserting an article into a virtual pouch defined by folding and tacking a first sheet of textile material. The first sheet is then folded about the article such that the first sheet encompasses the article. A second sheet of a textile material is then folded about the first sheet into a configuration such that the second sheet entirely envelops and encloses the first sheet and the textile article. The second folded sheet is then secured in the enveloping configuration. Alternatively, the article is wrapped in and encompassed by a first sheet of textile material by folding and the resulting package is then enclosed within a virtual pouch created in a second sheet of textile material. The resulting outer sheet enclosing the inner sheet with the textile article is then secured in its enclosing configuration with a strap. The packaging materials can be cleaned and decontaminated for reuse.

Abstract: Validating a wash process includes establishing a surrogate reference standard by acquiring data of a candidate wash process and, additionally, including a standard cleaning marker and a standard decontamination marker; determining, through laboratory testing of the markers, that the candidate wash process was effective in cleaning and/or decontaminating the textiles washed; and, recording the acquired data and/or a function of the acquired data. A subsequent wash process then is validated by acquiring data of the subsequent wash process in the same way as in the candidate was process; recording the acquired data of the subsequent wash process in association with unique identifiers of textiles washed; and comparing the result of the function of the acquired data of the subsequent wash process with the result of the function of the acquired data of the candidate wash process, whereby the subsequent wash process is deemed effective upon a successful comparison.
