Abstract:
Provided is a method making it possible to ensure a gradual release of polymer chains within a liquid medium, the method comprising bringing the liquid medium into contact with specific solid objects formed by polymer chains soluble in the medium and carrying hydrophobic side groups ensuring physical crosslinking between the polymer chains within the solid objects. The released chains may in particular be used as inhibitors of the formation of inorganic or organic deposits (scale inhibitors) within a liquid medium, typically in the field of oil extraction.
Abstract:
A method may include treating a water system containing or in contact with a metal sulphide scale to inhibit, prevent, reduce, dissolve or disperse iron sulphide deposits. A solution of tris(hydroxyorgano)phosphines (THP) and/or tetrakis(hydroxyorgano)phosphonium salts (THP+salts) and citrate is contacted with the metal sulphide scale thereby to dissolve at least part of said scale in said solution.
Abstract:
The invention relates to compositions for inhibiting the formation of deposits in underground formations such as oil wells, comprising, in a solvent medium, polymers P resulting from the radical copolymerisation, preferably controlled and in solution, of a mixture including: monomers having an ethylenically unsaturated structure, selected from monomers that form, by polymerisation, a polymer that has an effect of inhibiting the formation of organic and/or inorganic deposits; and polyethylenically unsaturated, cross-linking monomers carrying at least one group that can be cleaved between two ethylene unsaturations, said polymers P being present in the solvent in the form of dispersed nanogels.
