Abstract: Novel filters for cigarettes with improved retention capacity for nicotine, tars and other substances present in tobacco smoke, are prepared by incorporating into the filters aluminum oxide trihydrate hydrargillite which is more than 80% crystalline, with monoclinicpseudo hexagonal platelet structure.
