Abstract:
The invention provides high molecular weight polymers used in small amounts as viscosity modifiers for aqueous/aqueous biphasic liquids. The viscosity of the biphasic is enhanced at least 20%, preferably at least 30% relative to same compositions without use of polymer. Further, the polymer is included without destroying the ability of dual phase compositions to form after product is left standing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of specifically defined agents that induce the formation of biphasic liquid cleansing compositions. In particular the biphasic inducing agents include water soluble, high-gel-point polysaccharides having a molecular weight greater than about 10,000 Daltons; fatty ester or fatty ether ethoxylates of intermediate ethoxylation; and mixtures thereof. Optional use of salt and polydextrose allows less total biphasic inducing agents to be used in the composition and more control over the physical properties of the composition.
Abstract:
The invention provides rinse-off wet skin compositions comprising structuring systems which in turn comprise (a) non-pre-gelatinized starch; and (b) fatty acid, and which systems provide enhanced properties. The fatty acid also needs to be added to the aqueous phase during preparation of the formulation.

Abstract:
An ordered liquid crystalline phase cleansing composition is disclosed that contains a solid particulate optical modifier that modifies the appearance of the skin after rinsing the skin. A method of depositing the solid particulate optical modifier to the skin or hair with the ordered liquid crystalline phase cleansing composition is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A foaming cleansing product is provided as a cleansing composition packaged in a non-aerosol pump dispenser. The dispenser includes a container for holding a liquid composition, a dispensing head with a housing enclosing a pump mechanism and a screen material in the flow path to convert liquid composition into a foam. The cleansing composition comprises an anionic surfactant, and at least one surfactant selected from a nonionic and an amphoteric surfactant, a cationic polymer, and a hydrophobic antibacterial agent, and contains less than 0.05 wt. % of a water insoluble emollient; said composition being dispensed by the pump dispenser to provide a foam. The total amount of surfactants in the inventive composition does not exceed 12 wt. %, and preferably does not exceed 10.5 wt. %.
Abstract:
An aqueous isotropic liquid cleansing and moisturizing composition is provided having a surfactant; a thickening agent, and a solid particulate optical modifier that modifies the appearance of the skin after wash off.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a plurality of liquid cleansing compositions having at least one lamellar phase which possesses a lotion-like appearance conveying signals of enhanced moisturization and at least one abutting isotropic phase having enhanced cleansing ability. The inventive composition is contained in a partitionless container in one embodiment conveying signals of a plurality of compositions. This multiphase composition is stable upon storage and is dispensed as a striped product where typically one stripe has primarily a cleansing function and a second stripe has primarily a moisturization function.
Abstract:
An aqueous based personal washing product is disclosed which when used has good cleaning ability and is particularly mild to the skin. The free flowing liquid product, containing a selected blend of surfactants and emollients, including long chain fatty acids, free isethionate salts and acylisethionates is particularly adapted for facial washing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to wet skin treatment compositions having specific gum and acrylate dispersion stabilizer systems providing enhanced rheology (e.g., lotion-like rheology and spreadability) relative to other wet skin compositions.
