The method includes placing a first container between the top and bottom of a second container in a die that draws a vacuum between the top and bottom of the second container when they are sealed to form the container. The vacuum preferably ranges from about 8 to about 13 psi. The two components are selected to react to achieve a result, such as the generation of heat.

摘要: A self-heating chemical system using one or more primary components for exothermic reactions (such as calcium oxide), one or more porous components that can serve as a heat sink and conductor of heat as well as under going chemical transformations that release heat (zeolite), a weak acid (citric acid) for sustained modulation of temperature and pH. Exothermic reactions, mixing of some chemicals, sorption of certain chemicals, phase changes in chemicals, and dissolution of some chemicals in solvents release heat during these operations. The rate of heat generation coupled with mass and energy transfer rates to or from system(s) allows modulation of the temperature of systems. The modulation can be further enhanced by controlled release and availability of some of the components. This method provides with a class of self-heating product applications and focuses on the modulation of temperature through sequestering of reactions with different rates, heat release through dissolution, heat release through mixing, heat release through sorption, heat release through phase change as well as controlling mass and heat transfer rates.

摘要: A heater device for heating objects, including a compartment having a heat generating material and a second compartment having an activation material to generate heat upon mutual contact. The compartments are adapted to present a heating surface to the object to be heated. A divider is positioned in the compartments forming a barrier to maintain separation between reaction components until opened by an opening member positioned in alignment with the divider. An access element is movable into contact with the barrier to permit a heat generating reaction there between.

A pressure differential between the pressure in the inner and outer containers is made so the inner container has the higher pressure. The inner container has a line around at least one part of the inner container and extends through the outer container. The line is aligned to tear the container when it is pulled.
