    Abstract: A reinforced vehicle wheel having high loadability, long service life, relatively light weight, and simple construction has reinforcing links attached to the wheel hub near the region where the hub transitions into the rim. The reinforcing links preferably are formed of heavy gauge metal having a high modulus of elasticity and are mounted to the hub by way of rivets or other type fasteners. In the case of a multi-piece wheel, fasteners which are used to facilitate the joining of the wheel pieces may also be used to mount the reinforcing links to the hub.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing vehicle wheels from a disc blank, in which the wheel has rim portions of uniform thickness and different lengths. The wheel is made by spin forging the edge portion of the disc to form an angled portion, splitting the disc into two split portions one of which has the angled portion joined at its end and forming the split portions into a desired rim configuration. A groove may be formed on the periphery of the angled portion to precisely fix the location of the split.

    Abstract: An automotive wheel and a method for manufacturing, in which a center hub is formed using drawing and stamping methods, is disclosed. A mounting foot is spin forged onto the edge portion of the formed center hub, and the center hub is then polished and mounted into a separately formed cylindrical rim. The resulting automotive wheel has the look of a machined billet-type automotive wheel but with a substantial reduction in wasted material and corresponding cost.
