摘要: The present invention provides a wheel and manufacturing method of the same which make it possible to prevent the formation of indentations along the hump parts in the inner circumferential surface of the rim. In a wheel which comprises a cylindrical rim consisting of a rolled metal plate, and in which hump parts that are used to lock the inner circumferential edge part of the tire are disposed circumferentially so that these hump parts protrude to the outside in the vicinity of the end part of the outer circumferential surface of the rim on at least the design surface side, the outer hump part is formed to have an increased thickness by damming so that this outer hump part protrudes outward while the inner circumferential surface of the rim that corresponds to the outer hump part is formed into a flat circumferential surface.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide a vehicle wheel which can be manufactured at low cost, exhibits superior design characteristics, and with which mechanical strength can be adequately ensured. The vehicle wheel has a construction that is split into an outer-rim member that constitutes an outer-rim part, and a wheel-constituting member comprising an integral molding that constitutes an inner-rim part and disk part, wherein the outer-rim member end portion on the attachment face side is formed so as to be capable of fitting over the wheel-constituting member; an annular groove is formed in the engaging face of the wheel-constituting member which engages with the outer-rim member; and the outer-rim member is integrally fastened to the wheel-constituting member by press-fitting the outer-rim member end portion on the attachment face side inside the annular groove.

摘要: An improved vehicle wheel and method for producing the same includes a wheel rim and a wheel disc joined together by a weld. The wheel disc includes a generally centrally located wheel mounting portion which defines a vertical axis and an outer annular flange. The outer annular flange of the wheel disc defines an outer surface which is inverted at a predetermined angle relative to the vertical axis. The outer annular flange further includes a plurality of arches formed therein. The method for forming the vehicle wheel of the present invention includes the steps of (a) providing a wheel rim; (b) providing a generally circular disc blank; (c) initially stamping the disc blank to produce a generally bowl shaped wheel disc having an inner wheel mounting portion and an outer annular portion; (d) subjecting the bowl shaped wheel disc to an intermediate metal forming operation to produce a partially formed wheel disc defining a wheel disc vertical axis, the partially formed wheel disc having an outer annular flange which extends generally in the same direction as the wheel disc vertical axis, the outer annular flange having a plurality of arches formed therein; (e) subjecting the partially formed wheel disc to a series of metal forming operations to produce a partially formed wheel disc having a center hub hole, and a plurality of lug bolt receiving holes spaced circumferentially around the hub hole; (f) subjecting the partially formed wheel disc to a metal forming operation wherein the outer annular flange of the partially formed wheel disc is inverted radially inwardly relative to the vertical disc axis to thereby form a finished wheel disc; (g) positioning the outer annular flange of the wheel disc adjacent an inner surface of the wheel rim; and (h) welding the wheel disc to the wheel rim to produce the vehicle wheel.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a vehicle wheel includes the steps of providing a wheel rim and a spider and positioning the wheel rim and the spider adjacent each other. The wheel rim and the spider are then friction welded to each other. Subsequently, a portion of the spider is locked down onto the wheel rim by electromagnetic forming. Preferably, one end of the rim is positioned in a cavity formed in the spider. During friction welding, the upset material of the rim fills the cavity of the spider. Subsequently, while the metal is still relatively fluid, a flange of the spider is locked down onto the wheel rim by electromagnetic forming to secure the wheel rim and spider together.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a vehicle wheel includes the steps of providing a wheel rim and a spider and holding the spider inside the wheel rim. The wheel rim and the spider are positioned in a high capacity forming machine. At least one of a portion of the wheel rim located adjacent an outer periphery of the spider and a portion of the outer periphery of the spider is permanently deformed towards the other of the wheel rim and the spider thereby securing the wheel rim to the spider. An apparatus for securing the wheel rim to the spider includes a bottom die, a bottom inside rim stabilizer supported on the bottom die, a spider supported on the bottom inside rim stabilizer, a top inside rim stabilizer and a wheel rim supported by the bottom rim stabilizer and the top inside rim stabilizer. A high capacity forming machine encircles the wheel rim. The high capacity forming machine includes a workpiece which at least sometimes contacts the wheel rim and an electric circuit located adjacent the workpiece. A capacitor bank is electrically connected to the electric circuit of the high capacity forming machine. A switching circuit is electrically connected between the capacitor bank and the electric circuit for regulating a discharge of electricity from the capacitor bank into the circuit. The workpiece of the high capacity forming machine is capable of delivering a forming velocity of at least 10m/second. A typical workpiece is either a resilient wall of an electrohydraulic device or a compression coil of an electromagnetic device.

摘要: An improved wheel disc and disc and rim wheel assembly, and method and press apparatus for manufacturing the same. The wheel disc is adapted for telescopic press fit precision mounting into a mating wheel rim to form the wheel assembly. A flat disc blank is progressively die formed into a disc preform having a cross-sectional contour proximating that of the finished disc. The disc preform is then placed in a segmental expand punch and die tooling of the press apparatus which operates to apply radial expansion pressure to substantially the entire inner circumference of the peripheral flange portion of the disc preform to thereby permanently deform the same into a finished flange portion on the disc having precision finished predetermined dimensions. A center pilot opening is finish formed in the disc preform in the progressive die forming operation, and then subsequently utilized to locate the disc relative to radial expansion die forming segments in press tooling to thereby ensure concentricity of the finished flange portion upon completion of the permanent radial expansion cold working operation thereon. The apparatus includes an expansion die set-up adjustment mechanism and set-up position sensors to facilitate both initial and running changes in the segmental expansion die set-up exteriorly of the tooling.

摘要: A method for making a wheel and a wheel so made is disclosed in which the tire bead seats in the rim are deformed inwardly, the wheel is held by the deformed bead seats, and the bolting surfaces of the web are machined in fixed relation to the bead seats. Preferably, the bead seats are deformed sequentially to work welded metal attachment of a web to the rim, and then place it under compression. Preferably, the bolting surface is machined in the form of a flat cone that is approximately three degrees from planar, and the lug holes are chamfered to place surrounding metal in direct compression, and to deform the conically shaped bolting surfaces into flat engagement with planar surfaces on the hubs on which the wheels are to be installed. A method of determined angularity of the web to the rim is utilized to reject poorly aligned webs before machining the bolting surfaces, and thereby prevent undo thinning of the web, and as a means of product control. Theory of the stresses in the wheel both during manufacturing and use is disclosed.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of making one-piece wheels for large locarrying vehicles. Starting from a blank in the form of a cylindrical disc, the minor flange of the rim and the wheel disc are formed by hot stamping, while the major flange of the rim is obtained by press-forming from a tube section. The two parts are assembled by welding. The production cycle terminates in a few finishing operations by machining. These wheels, which may be made in particular of lightweight aluminum-based alloys, are particularly suitable for large load-carrying vehicles fitted with tubeless tires.
