The cover-slip comprises a planar portion of substantially rigid and transparent material and further comprises a tab contiguous with or adjacent to or attached with the planar portion. The tab is divertable from the plane of the planar portion along a predetermined bending region, thereby allowing holding and displacing the cover-slip e.g. when the cover-slip lies on a flat surface.
