摘要： A dishwasher operates to sense the need for a drain or purge operation based on dynamic characteristics of a respective washing operation such that an adaptive system is defined. In accordance with the invention, washing fluid used to spray clean kitchenware being washed is filtered and soil from the kitchenware is collected. When the filtering system becomes clogged, a flow signal is established to indicate the need for at least a partial drain operation. Most preferably, this arrangement is used in combination with signals from a turbidity sensor, as well as pump motor current signals, to provide an comprehensive, dynamically adaptive control system.

摘要： A one-piece wash arm is provided for a dishwasher. The wash arm has an open channel through which water from a water supply hose is directed. The channel has opposite curved ends with discharge openings through which the water is sprayed onto objects to be washed in the dishwasher. The flow of water through the channel and the curved ends imparts rotation to the wash arm. In a preferred embodiment, the open channel is downwardly facing, and the water is substantially maintained in the channel due to the water pressure, velocity and surface tension. In an alternative embodiment, the open channel is directed upwardly.

摘要： A dishwasher includes a tub, a frame extending around the tub, and a door pivotally secured to the frame for movement between a vertical closed position and a horizontal open position. Hinges are provided on each side of the door to provide a door pivot axis, and are fixed to the frame of the dishwasher. The hinges are accurately positioned relative to the tub by providing at least one boss on each side of the tub, and a recess or hole in each hinge to receive the boss. The hinges are then secured to the frame with screws or by welding. Thus, the hinges are accurately aligned with one another at the proper location on the frame so as to provide proper sealing between the door and the tub when the door is in the closed position.

摘要： A clip is provided for mounting in a dishwasher rack to hold objects to be washed. The clip includes a base having opposite ends with an opening adjacent each end so that the clip can be mounted on at least a pair of rack tines. At least one resilient tab extends upwardly from the base and is adapted to retain a cup or other object in the rack. Mounting the clip on at least a pair of tines provides strength and stability for the clip.

摘要： A convection air inlet and suds control device is provided for a dishwasher. The dishwasher has a washing chamber with a bottom wall, a chimney extending through the bottom wall with opposite upper and lower ends positioned on opposite sides of the bottom wall. A chimney cap is spaced in covering relation over the upper end of the chimney. A container having an inner cup and an outer cup is mounted adjacent the bottom wall such that the inner cup surrounds the lower extension of the chimney. The outer cup includes an opening such that air may flow by convection into the outer cup, into the inner cup and upwardly through the chimney into the washing chamber so as to dry the articles in the dishwasher. In oversudsing conditions, the suds flow downwardly through the chimney for collection in the inner cup. Excess suds filling the inner cup will spill over into the outer cup. The inner cup and lower extension of the chimney cooperate to function as a valve. When liquid deriving from condensing suds in the inner cup rises to a level above the lower end of the chimney, downward flow of suds into the inner cup and upward flow of air through the chimney is prevented. As the liquid evaporates to a level below the lower end of the chimney, the flow of air and suds returns to normal.

摘要： A method and apparatus for power tuning a terminal of a bi-directional communications system, such as a cable television plant. An iterative or cycle method is used to achieve a proper terminal transmitter power level at a remote terminal. A polling signal is transmitted in a downstream direction from a controller to the terminal. If the controller receives a status signal which is transmitted upstream from the terminal, then the controller compares a received power level measured at a head end against a predetermined range of acceptable power levels. If the power level is outside of the predetermined range, then the controller calculates and transmits a terminal transmitter power level in a downstream direction to the terminal. The iterative or cyclic method repeats until the received power level is within the predetermined range. If the received power level of the terminal remains outside of the predetermined range after a specified count of cycles or iterations or if the head end does not receive a status signal, then the controller either aborts the cycle or attempts to revive the terminal.
