摘要: The present invention includes a rotatable cutting head assembly (12), such as for a planer or a jointer, which planes a work surface on a workpiece (22). The cutting head assembly (12) comprises a rotatable elongate support block (30), a pair of blades (32), and a pair of elongate retainers (34). Each blade (32) has a straight elongate cutting edge (50,51) which extends parallel to and is spaced radially from the longitudinal axis (36) of the support block (30). Each retainer (34) is attachable to the support block (30) to clamp a respective blade (32) therebetween. Retainers (34), blades (32) and support block (30) have cooperating alignment ribs (64) and elongate slots (52). The slots (52) extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the support block. The cooperating alignment ribs and elongate slots maintain cutting edges (50,51) at equal radial distances from the longitudinal axis (36) while permitting the blades (32) to be longitudinally adjustable relative to the support block (30) to enable a user to offset any longitudinally aligned nicks formed on the cutting edges (50,51) during planing so that the cutting edges (50,51) create a smooth planar surface which is free of ridges on workpiece (22).

摘要: A drill press assembly having a base mountable to a work bench, a vertical column attached to the base and a drill head assembly having an electric motor and a quill. The drill head assembly is movably attached to the column. A rack is rotatably attached to the top of the column and is engaged by a crank and pinion mechanism attached to the frame of the drill head assembly which permits the drill head assembly to be displaced vertically and rotated about the column. A tilt table is attachable to the base of the drill press. A locking mechanism having a bolt passing through a longitudinal slot in the supporting base of the tilt table and a transverse slot in the base is engaged by an eccentrically mounted camshaft to lock the supporting base of the tilt table to the top surface of the drill press base. A pivoting frame is pivotably attached to the supporting base and contains a table plate. A fence is attachable to the top of the pivoting frame. The fence has a stopping block to facilitate the location of a workpiece on the tilt table. A work clamp is also provided on the drill head assembly to clamp a workpiece on the tilt table.

摘要: An apparatus for punching knock-outs out of light gauge steel framing studs used in building construction to form holes of sufficient size to allow building wiring and piping to extend therethrough includes a compact hand held frame (12) having a generally C-shaped frame portion (14). The C-shaped frame portion has spaced apart ends (16, 18) located along a working axis (20) for receiving a stud (30) therebetween. A punch and die assembly (24) includes a punch (26) and a die (28) mounted opposite each other at the ends of the C-shaped frame portion. An actuatable driving mechanism (36) mounted to the frame is operable to drive the punch and dic assembly over a working stroke range between a deactuated position (52) and an actuated position (54). In the actuated position, the punch extends into the die by punching through the stud to produce a knock-out (342).

摘要: A line trimmer head is provided including a rotatable drive shaft and a housing mounted to the drive shaft for rotation therewith. The housing has an open end and at least one peripheral aperture formed through the housing. A spool subassembly is positioned at least partially within the housing adjacent the open end of the housing. The subassembly includes a spool having at least one flange extending radially outwardly from the periphery thereof, a cog ring secured to the spool, and a ratchet and pawl assembly formed between the cog ring and spool. The ratchet and pawl assembly allows rotation of the spool in a first direction with respect to the cog ring for winding line around the spool while preventing spool rotation in a second direction opposite the first direction to facilitate line feed bumping and line trimming operations.

摘要: A follower for translating rotational motion of a cam into reciprocal motion of an intake or exhaust valve is disclosed. The follower comprises a first portion adapted to be pivotably mounted on a follower shaft and a second portion adapted to contact a cam surface. The first and second portions form a generally V shape. The first portion includes a bottom and a pair of side walls connected to the bottom. Each of the side walls has a hole therethrough, and the holes are coaxially aligned to accept the follower shaft. The second portion includes a first end connected to the first portion and a second distal end which contacts the cam surface. Also disclosed is a method of making a follower from common sheet metal.

摘要: A connector is provided for releaseably fastening a vacuum pipe to the body of an implement which is convertible between a blower and vacuum mode. The vacuum pipe is adapted to attach to an intake port formed in the body of the implement. The vacuum pipe is provided with a collar having a series of angularly spaced apart receptacles each having a passage therethrough provided with a locking surface extending part way along the passage and an abutment aligned with the locking surface defining a space therebetween. The body is provided with a plurality of stakes angularly spaced about the intake port aligned with the passages on the collar. Each stake is provided with a locking face disposed and arranged to overhang the locking surface in the collar and has a thickness substantially equal to the spacing between the locking surface and abutment. The collar is adapted to be angularly positioned relative to the body with the passages aligned with the stakes. The collar can then be turned to move the stakes into the spacing thereby holding the stakes with the locking faces overhanging the locking surfaces on the collar to provide a secure connection between the vacuum pipe and implement intake port. Preferably, the intake port includes a sleeve-like extension to telescopically fit within the vacuum pipe and the groove extending about the sleeve to receive and stabilize an end the vacuum pipe.

摘要: A coupling for the handle shaft of a flailing line type trimmer which permits angular adjustment of a drive head. The coupling clamps two parts of the handle shaft together. The coupling prevents rotation of one part and permits the selectible rotation of the other. It is preferably formed as a split clamp joining and securely holding the parts in abutment. A pin on the split clamp engages a recess in the end of one handle shaft part to prevent its rotation while a lip on the split clamp engages a circumferential groove in the other handle shaft part to enable it to rotate. A releasable fastener permits loosening of the clamp to allow rotational adjustment of the parts, and their retention at a selected orientation.
