    摘要: A substantially rectangular socket connector for connecting a CPU to a mother board, comprises a base and cover mounted on the base and movable relative thereto between open and closed positions along a diagonal direction of the connector. The cover defines a number slots extending in a direction parallel to the diagonal direction. The base forms a number of teeth slidably received in the slots. A number of contacts are fixedly received in contact passages defined in the base for engaging with/disengaging from pins of the CPU inserted into the connector in response to a movement of the connector between the closed and open positions. The cover further forms at least a ridge in a corresponding slot to divide the corresponding slot into two recessed regions. The tooth extending into the corresponding slot is received in either of the two recessed regions when the connector is at either of the open and closed positions whereby the connector can be more securely located at these two positions.

    摘要: An integrated circuit (IC) socket assembly (1) includes an IC socket (4) mounted on a burn-in board (3) and receiving an IC (2) therein, a supporting member (5) assembled on the burn-in board and covering the IC socket, a heat sink (6) assembled on the supporting member, and an actuation member (7) assembled on the supporting member. The heat sink includes a jacket (61) attached on the IC. The jacket defines a U-shaped channel for containing cooling liquid therein. The actuation member is capable of being operated from an open position to a closed position, in which the jacket abuts against a top surface of the IC and the IC is reliably electrically connected with the burn-in board. During burning in, the jacket can quickly efficiently dissipate heat from the IC and associated components the protect the IC from instability and damage.

The side walls and the floor cooperatively define a substantially rectangular cavity (24) therebetween. A plurality of passageways (26) is defined in the floor for receiving a corresponding number of electrical contacts (3) therein. Each contact includes an arm (30) extending beyond the floor for contacting with corresponding contacting pad of the LGP (4). All the arms extend in a plurality of rows, parallel to one diagonal of the floor, and the arms in a same row are arranged side by side. Each passage includes an upper receiving portion extending into an adjacent passage in the same line, therefore, the passages in the same line are stringed, and a continuous support member is formed between two rows of stringed passages.

    摘要: A contact module with connectors adapted to engage with first and second electrical conductors such that when resiliently interfaced with the conductors there is a net zero moment of inertia exerted on the conductors. Each individual connector exerts a resilient spring force to engage with an electrical conductor. When such resilient forces, as in the prior art are aggregated, they can exert a considerable vectored moment of inertia on the electrical conductors to which they are connected. The connectors of the present invention are arranged so that each individual connector has an opposing connector somewhere in the module to offset each individual moment of inertia so that the net sum of all moments on the interfacing electrical conductor is zero.

    摘要: A socket for interconnecting a PGA package with a circuit board comprises a base, a cover slidably attached to the base, and supporting means downwardly extending from the base. The base comprises a pair of extension plates diagonally extending therefrom. The supporting means in the form of a pair of standoffs is formed on the respective extension plates. Since each standoff has a height slightly smaller than that of solder balls formed on a lower surface of the base, the standoffs rest on the circuit board after the socket is soldered thereto. By such a design, the external force employed to actuate the cover to slide along the base is transferred from the base to the standoffs. Hence, deformation of the base and damage to the solder joint are obviated to ensure a reliable connection between the PGA package and the circuit board.
