摘要： A substantially rectangular socket connector for connecting a CPU to a mother board, comprises a base and cover mounted on the base and movable relative thereto between open and closed positions along a diagonal direction of the connector. The cover defines a number slots extending in a direction parallel to the diagonal direction. The base forms a number of teeth slidably received in the slots. A number of contacts are fixedly received in contact passages defined in the base for engaging with/disengaging from pins of the CPU inserted into the connector in response to a movement of the connector between the closed and open positions. The cover further forms at least a ridge in a corresponding slot to divide the corresponding slot into two recessed regions. The tooth extending into the corresponding slot is received in either of the two recessed regions when the connector is at either of the open and closed positions whereby the connector can be more securely located at these two positions.

摘要： A socket for interconnecting a PGA package with a circuit board comprises a base, a cover slidably attached to the base, and supporting means downwardly extending from the base. The base comprises a pair of extension plates diagonally extending therefrom. The supporting means in the form of a pair of standoffs is formed on the respective extension plates. Since each standoff has a height slightly smaller than that of solder balls formed on a lower surface of the base, the standoffs rest on the circuit board after the socket is soldered thereto. By such a design, the external force employed to actuate the cover to slide along the base is transferred from the base to the standoffs. Hence, deformation of the base and damage to the solder joint are obviated to ensure a reliable connection between the PGA package and the circuit board.

摘要： A contact module with connectors adapted to engage with first and second electrical conductors such that when resiliently interfaced with the conductors there is a net zero moment of inertia exerted on the conductors. Each individual connector exerts a resilient spring force to engage with an electrical conductor. When such resilient forces, as in the prior art are aggregated, they can exert a considerable vectored moment of inertia on the electrical conductors to which they are connected. The connectors of the present invention are arranged so that each individual connector has an opposing connector somewhere in the module to offset each individual moment of inertia so that the net sum of all moments on the interfacing electrical conductor is zero.

摘要： An electrical connector comprises a base having a number of contacts received therein, a cover movably mounted on the base, a pair of first plates and a pair of second plates. The first and second plates are respectively positioned at opposite diagonal corners of the cover and the base. Each first plate faces an associated second plate. In operation, a tool positioned between the faced first and second plates is used to push the second plate from the first plate thereby driving the cover along the base in the diagonal direction.

摘要： A contact comprises an upper beam and a lower beam both of which are connected by two side plates at two ends thereof. An upper spring arm extends from the upper beam and a lower spring arm extends from the lower beam. The upper spring arm having a contacting section substantially located at a highest position of the contact. The lower spring arm has a soldering tail substantially located at a lowest position of the contact. When the side plates and the soldering tail are fixed in position and the contacting section of the upper spring arm is urged by an external force, the upper beam will be twisted for a predetermined angle to transmit a tension to the contacting section.

摘要： A socket connector includes a fixed base and a movable cover slidably positioned on the base for moving between a closed position and an open position. A control plate is movably retained between the base and the cover and defines first and second holes, each having an arcuate edge and an opposite straight edge. A bore reinforced by a metal collar is defined in the cover for rotatably receiving a screwdriver. The control plate is manually moved between first and second positions corresponding to the closed and open positions of the cover whereby the first and second holes selectively align with the bore. When closing/opening the cover, the screwdriver is inserted into the first/second hole through the bore with an edge thereof engaging with the bore whereby rotating the screwdriver moves the cover toward the closed/open positions.
