摘要: Crescendo telephone ringers and methods of providing a crescendo telephone ring signal. The crescendo telephone ringer provides a gradual increase in audible ringing volume as a sequence of incoming electrical ring signals is detected. According to one embodiment, upon receipt of an incoming call, a first audible ring signal corresponding to a first detected electrical ring signal is set to a minimum volume. Subsequent audible ring signals corresponding to subsequent detected electrical ring signals are set to increasing volume levels, and finally to a maximum ringer volume.

摘要: A circuit for notifying a PBX that a data port in a telephone connected to the PBX is about to be used. The circuit comprises a current sensor for generating a signal that indicates a modem is drawing current through the data port. A large resistor limits the current being drawn through the data port to a level that does not indicate an off-hook condition to either the PBX or the modem. In response to the signal generated by the current sensor, a separate telephone circuit provides an off-hook condition that draws a first dial tone from the PBX. A microprocessor in the circuit generates a signal that causes a dialer in the telephone circuit to dial a number that notifies the PBX that the modem is attempting to access the PBX through the data port. After the PBX is notified of the imminent data port usage, it presents a second dial tone on line two which is the dial tone for an outside line. The microprocessor then activates a thyristor which electrically bypasses the resistor and allows sufficient current to be drawn by the modem to maintain the off-hook condition.

摘要: A line-powered circuit for connecting a telephone line to a telephone voice circuit comprised of a digital part and an analog part. The digital part is a logic circuit for generating a line connect signal that indicates a telephone line should be connected to the voice circuit. The power for operating the logic circuit is provided by the line voltage associated with the tip and ring leads of the telephone line. The analog part comprises a first switch means for connecting the voice circuit to the tip lead in response to the line connect signal, and a second switch means for connecting the voice circuit to a ring lead in response to the line connect signal.

摘要: A message waiting circuit comprised of a pair of electrical leads which carry a message waiting signal, a capacitor for storing electrical energy extracted from the message waiting signal, a transistor for allowing the capacitor to charge when the message waiting signal is within a predetermined range; a Darlington transistor for causing the capacitor to discharge; and a light emitting diode (LED) which emits light when the capacitor discharges. The flashing LED indicates that a message is waiting for a user of the telephone set associated with the message waiting circuit. Approximately ten to twenty-five message waiting circuits and associated telephone sets can be connected to a single telephone line.

摘要: A DTMF signal receiver, for telephone systems, includes an amplifier with automatic gain control for receiving and amplifying DTMF and audio signals. A series of bandpass and notch filters receive the output from the amplifier for producing bandpass and notch outputs in response to the DTMF frequencies. A detector receives the bandpass output from each of the filters to produce a signal representing the presence or absence of a signal of each DTMF frequency in the amplifier output, and a DTMF decoder receives the signals from all such detectors and produces output signals in response to simultaneous detection of preselected pairs of DTMF frequencies. A voice guard circuit receives the notch output from the last filter in the series and compares the amplitude of that notch output with a threshold level to produce a disable signal whenever the amplitude of the notch output is greater than the threshold. This disable signal is supplied to the DTMF decoder for disabling the production of output signals by the decoder and thereby preventing the detection of invalid DTMF signals.

摘要: A station-to-station supervision system for a telephone system has a dual tone multiple frequency (DTMF) signal generator connected to the transmit line at each subscriber station, and a standard audible signal generator is connected to the receive line at each subscriber station for generating dial tone, ringback tone, reorder tone and busy tone in response to supervisory DTMF signals. Control means associated with each subscriber station effect the generation of a dial tone disable DTMF signal from a calling station in response to the combination of an off-hook condition at the calling station and the absence of a DTMF signal from any other station in the system; a busy tone command DTMF signal from any given station in response to the combination of an address signal for that station and an off-hook condition at that station; and a ringback tone command DTMF signal from any given station in response to the combination of an address signal for that station and an on-hook condition at that station. The control means also generates a DTMF signal for terminating ringback tone at a calling station when a called station comes off-hook. The system also includes optional operating modes such as push-to-talk, conference calls, group calls, and all call.
