摘要:
Techniques for transferring printable content from a remote device to an eBook reader include exposing a network printer interface that represents the eBook reader as a physical network printer. The remote device can be configured with a printer driver corresponding to the network printer interface, and a user may print documents from the remote device in order to transfer them to the eBook reader.

Content may be stored as structured language data that may be separated into a formatting skeleton (skeleton) and fragments. The skeleton may be extracted from the structured language data to retain at least a portion of the formatting information of a structured language data. The fragments may be segments of presentation data from the structured language data and may be mapped to a location within the skeleton. Upon rendering, a client device may only have to load the skeleton and one or more fragments associated with a specified viewing location in order to quickly and accurately render a portion of the content. By rendering only some of the fragments of the structured language data, the client device may minimize user-perceived latency during processing and rendering operations.

A panel view module receives a comic comprising one or more pages, which comprise one or more panels. The panel view module may identify candidate comic panels and determine confidence levels for the candidate comic panels. The panel view may also generate a panel view for the comic based on the confidence levels for the candidate comic panels.

An item providing system may receive digital content that is to be provided to user devices. The digital content may include electronic periodicals (e.g., electronic newspapers, electronic magazines, etc.). The digital content may not be complete. To address this issue, the item providing system may include a content reconstruction tool that is able to identify and download needed portions of digital content. Also, the digital content may not be in a desired format. The item providing system may include a collator tool that is able to organize, arrange and/or format the digital content.

Electronic content may be formatted using tag format stacks that store format information up to a predetermined location in the electronic content. The electronic content may be formatted for display using data in the format tag stack and without parsing the entire electronic content. In some aspects, an encoder may receive content that includes a predetermined format and body text. The encoder may parse the content via a sequential process to identify active format tags at certain locations within the content. Next, the encoder may store the active format tags as a format tag stack in the content. In further aspects, a decoder may select a portion of the content for display. The format tag stack may be updated by parsing the portion of the content that is not included in the format tag stack. The content may be formatted based on instructions of the updated format tag stack.
