A surface-fluorinated metal oxide particulate comprising a metal oxide particulate selected from titanium, aluminum, silicon, silver, copper, zirconium, zinc, tin, germanium, tantalum and the like, being reacted with fluorine and a process for manufacturing such surface-treated metal oxide particulates are disclosed. The process allows easy and efficient fluorination of the surface of metal oxide particulates in any desired ratio. The surface-fluorinated metal oxide particulates of the present invention are useful as an additive for weatherable paints, weatherable resins, cosmetics and the like. Surface-fluorinated titanium oxide particulates obtained by fluorination of titanium oxide particulates have improved light stability, water-repellence, and dispersibility as compared with conventional titanium oxide particulates and maintains surface smoothness of the resin-coated substrate when contained in high concentrations in thermoplastic resins as a white pigment with water content being controlled in a specified range and prevents the occurrence of troubles at the time of melt extrusion coating for obtaining resin-coated substrates.

A nonaqueous secondary battery is disclosed. The positive electrode is composed of a polymer obtained by oxidative polymerization of an aniline compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are C1-5 alkyl or C1-5 alkoxy, and X and Y are 0, 1 or 2,or a reduction product of the polymer the negative electrode is composed of (i) an alkali metal, (ii) an alkali metal alloy, (iii) an electroconductive polymer or (iv) composite of an electroconductive polymer with an alkali metal or an alkali metal alloy. The electrolytic solution is composed of a supporting electrolyte selected from LiAsF.sub.6, LiBF.sub.4 and LiPF.sub.6 and a solvent, wherein when the supporting electrolyte is LiAsF.sub.6 or LiPF.sub.6, the solvent is a mixed solvent comprising at least one member selected from propylene carbonate and ethylene carbonate and at least one member selected from tetrahydrofuran and 1,2-dimethoxyethane, and when the supporting electrolyte is LiBF.sub.4, the solvent is a mixed solvent comprising propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate and at least one member selected from tetrahydrofuran and 1,2-dimethoxyethane.

A treating method comprising contacting a fluorine-containing interhalogen compound first with a treating agent for the fluorine component and then with a treating agent for the halogen component, treating agents therefor, and a method for treating exhaust gas containing a fluorine-containing interhalogen compound, comprising filling a treating agent for the fluorine component into the internal cylinder of a treating apparatus having a double cylinder structure consisting of an internal cylinder and an external cylinder, filling a treating agent for the halogen component into the external cylinder, feeding exhaust gas containing a fluorine-containing interhalogen compound into the internal cylinder to travel the internal cylinder and the external cylinder in this order, and then discharging the treated gas from the external cylinder.
