    Abstract: An illuminated glass element, including a glass pane with a first surface, a second surface, and a side edge face extending therebetween. The glass pane is equipped with at least one light source, which is suitable for coupling light into the glass pane such that the light propagates in the glass pane, in particular by total reflection at the first surface and the second surface. The glass pane is provided with at least one light-scattering structure, which is suitable for coupling said light out of the glass pane via the first surface and/or via the second surface. The glass pane is also provided, in a peripheral edge region, at least in sections, with a light trap, which is suitable for reducing the emission of the light via the side edge face. The light trap is formed from a light-scattering or light-diffracting layer on the first surface and an opaque element on the second surface.
