Abstract: A screen switching method in an electronic device includes displaying an execution screen of a first application on a screen, displaying an event icon indicating an event occurring in association with a second application, on a portion of the first execution screen where the first application is being executed, receiving an input for the event icon, and displaying an execution screen of the first application and an execution screen of the second application simultaneously on the screen, in response to the input. Other embodiments including an electronic device for switching screens are also disclosed.
