An embodiment operates by receiving a selection of a user interface component of an application. Metadata corresponding to data of a data source is determined, and a function that executes an operation with respect to the data is determined. One or more roles that have access to the data are determined. The application, including the user interface component, is provided via a web browser for access by a user associated with one of the roles.
