摘要: Reduced voltage switching of a main switch in flyback power converters. Example embodiments are methods including: driving a primary current with a first polarity in a primary winding of a transformer, and a secondary winding of the transformer arranged for flyback operation; creating, by the primary current, a charge voltage on an auxiliary winding of the transformer; charging, by the charge voltage, a capacitance coupled to the auxiliary winding; ceasing the driving of the primary current and discharging an energy in a field associated with the secondary winding to provide an output voltage of the power converter; inducing a primary current with a second polarity in the primary winding by coupling the capacitance to the auxiliary winding; and reducing voltage across a main switch coupled to the primary winding, the reducing by the primary current with the second polarity.

At least some example embodiments are methods including: storing energy in a field associated with a secondary winding of a transformer, the secondary winding arranged for flyback operation within a secondary circuit of the power converter; charging a capacitor coupled to an auxiliary winding of the transformer; discharging the energy in the field associated with the secondary winding to provide an output voltage of the power converter; and when the electrical current flowing through the secondary winding reaches a predetermined low level reducing voltage across a main switch in a primary circuit of the power converter by coupling the capacitor to the auxiliary winding to create a voltage on a primary winding of the transformer.

摘要: A method for frequency reduction of a quasi-resonant (QR) converter includes detecting a valley point of a resonant waveform of the QR converter, by detecting a voltage level of the resonant waveform falling below a first threshold voltage. A blanking time is formed from the beginning of a QR conversion cycle to the valley point. The blanking time is extended in response to a first reduction of an output loading of the QR converter, while maintaining a primary current of the QR converter at a first current level. The primary current is reduced to a second current level being less than the first current level, while maintaining the blanking time at a maximum blanking time, in response to a second reduction of the output loading.

摘要: A signal calculator includes a capacitor and a variable current source. The variable current source charges the capacitor and generates a current corresponding to a predetermined voltage during a first period. A first voltage is generated using a voltage of the capacitor charged during an enable period of a first signal in the first period, and a second voltage is generated using a voltage of the capacitor charged during the first period. The variable current source further generates a current corresponding to the second voltage during a second period. A second signal is generated according to a result of comparing the first voltage with the voltage of the capacitor during the second period, and a fourth voltage is generated by generating and sampling a third voltage which is increased according to a first current during an enable period of the second signal in the second period.
