    摘要: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes, in the given order: a first substrate; a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules; and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a first electrode, a second electrode closer to the liquid crystal layer than the first electrode is, and an insulating film between the first electrode and the second electrode. The second electrode is provided with openings including a first opening and a second opening adjacent to each other. The first opening and the second opening are independent of each other and are point-symmetrical to each other. The first opening and the second opening each have a shape including: curved portions that expand an opening periphery outward at the respective ends in the longitudinal direction; and paired protruding portions that allow the opening periphery to protrude partially in the lateral direction in the middle of the longitudinal direction. The liquid crystal molecules are aligned parallel to the first substrate in a no-voltage-applied state where no voltage is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes an upper substrate and a lower substrate; and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the upper and lower substrates. The lower substrate includes a pixel electrode, a first auxiliary capacitance electrode, and a second auxiliary capacitance electrode for one pixel, and one or two auxiliary capacitance lines for one pixel line including pixels. The two auxiliary capacitive electrodes are electrically connected to different auxiliary capacitance lines. Each of the first auxiliary capacitance electrode and the second auxiliary capacitance electrode and the pixel electrode overlap each other in a plan view. The first auxiliary capacitance electrode and the second auxiliary capacitance electrode differ from each other in shape in a display region of each of the pixels. The shape of the first auxiliary capacitance electrode in a first pixel is identical to the shape of the second auxiliary capacitance electrode in a second pixel adjacent to the first pixel.

    摘要: Disclosed is a horizontal alignment mode liquid crystal display device that can achieve higher definition and improved response speed. The liquid crystal display device includes, in the given order: a first substrate; a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules; and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a first electrode, a second electrode positioned closer to the liquid crystal layer than the first electrode is, and an insulating film between the first and second electrodes. The second electrode is provided with an opening having a shape including a longitudinal-shaped portion and a pair of protrusions protruding to opposite sides from the longitudinal-shaped portion. The protrusions are provided at portions excluding both end portions in the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal-shaped portion and are located at corresponding positions. In a no-voltage-applied state, the liquid crystal molecules are aligned parallel to the first substrate, and in a plan view, the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal-shaped portion and an alignment azimuth of the liquid crystal molecules in the no-voltage-applied state are parallel or orthogonal to each other.

The second electrode and the third electrode constitute a pair of comb-shaped electrodes and each include a trunk portion and multiple branch portions branching from the trunk portion.     摘要: Provided are a display panel and a display device in which light usage efficiency can be improved using a simple structure. A light modulating layer disposed between substrates of a display panel includes a polar solvent, a non-polar solvent, and hydrophilic shape-anisotropic members. The hydrophilic substrate is in contact with the polar solvent and the hydrophobic substrate is in contact with the non-polar solvent. The disposition of the shape-anisotropic hydrophilic members in the light modulating layer is varied by varying the voltage applied to the light modulating layer.
