Abstract: An electrical machine has a braking element and a release device. A rotor of the electrical machine includes the braking element and release device. The electrical machine is located, for example, in a rail vehicle. In order to brake the rotor of the electrical machine in the event of an error in the drive train, an overload torque is generated by the electrical machine. An overload clutch is triggered by the overload torque.
