Abstract: A molybdenum alkylene-dioxy-derivative, adapted to catalyze the oxidation of certain compounds containing ethylenic unsaturations, is prepared by reacting an organic molybdenum compound in which oxygen atoms are directly attached to the molybdenum atom with an organic derivative having vicinal hydroxyl groups.
