摘要: An illumination unit of the present disclosure includes an excitation light source, a phosphor section, an excitation-light intensity distribution generation section, and an illumination optical system. The excitation light source emits excitation light. The phosphor section includes a fluorescent light-emission surface that performs fluorescent light emission in response to receiving of the excitation light. The excitation-light intensity distribution generation section is provided between the excitation light source and the phosphor section, and varies an intensity distribution of the excitation light to bring the intensity distribution of the excitation light closer to a desired excitation-light intensity distribution on the fluorescent light-emission surface. The illumination optical system generates, on the basis of light derived from the fluorescent light emission from the phosphor section, illumination light with which an image display device is to be irradiated.

摘要: A lighting apparatus according to the disclosure includes: a light source; a phase modulation liquid crystal panel that includes a plurality of pixels, the phase modulation liquid crystal panel modulating a phase of light from the light source for each of the pixels; a modulation signal corrector that performs signal correction that corrects a pixel modulation signal for a target pixel among the plurality of pixels on the basis of a pixel modulation signal for at least one peripheral pixel that is located around the target pixel to reduce a deviation amount relative to a desired amount of modulation for the target pixel; and an application voltage generator that generates an application voltage to be applied to each of the pixels on the basis of the pixel modulation signal having been corrected by the modulation signal corrector.

摘要: A projection-type display apparatus including one or more light sources that emit pieces of light of first to third wavelength bands; first to third light modulation devices that modulate corresponding one of the pieces of light of the first to third wavelength bands; a color synthesis device that has a characteristic of reflecting or transmitting both S-polarized light and P-polarized light for the light of the first wavelength band, and reflecting the S-polarized light and transmitting the P-polarized light for the pieces of light of the second and third wavelength bands, and that synthesizes the pieces of light of the wavelength bands emitted from the first to third light modulation devices; and a projection optical system that projects the light synthesized by the color synthesis device, and full width at half maximum of a spectrum of the light of the first wavelength band that enters the color synthesis device is 40 nm or lower.

摘要: A phase modulation data generating unit according to the present disclosure includes: a first calculating section; and a storage section. The first calculating section calculates basic phase modulation pattern data on the basis of a partial illumination image pattern that makes it possible to generate an intended illumination image pattern having a desired luminance distribution. The basic phase modulation pattern data makes it possible for a light phase modulation device to reconstruct the partial illumination image pattern. The storage section stores the basic phase modulation pattern data calculated by the first calculating section.

摘要: A first projection display apparatus includes a color separator (41A) that has first and second incident surfaces (S1a and S1b), and allows light in first to third wavelength bands to pass therethrough or reflects the light in the first to third wavelength bands; first to third reflective light modulators (15); a first polarization splitter (12G); a second polarization splitter (12RB); and a projection optical system (19). Light in at least one of the first to third wavelength bands enters the first incident surface of the color separator as first polarized light, and light in the other wavelength bands enters the second incident surface of the color separator as second polarized light orthogonal to the first polarized light.
