摘要： A tape transport mechanism for driving a tape from reel to reel is disclosed with a capstan drive for the tape providing constant playback or recording speeds, and two fast forward speeds, an intermediate speed and a higher speed. The high speed fast forward is provided by actuating a switching device to connect the drive motor for the mechanism to a source of power which operates the motor at a higher speed while coincidentally releasing the tape from the capstan drive. The intermediate speed is provided by releasing the tape from the capstan drive without actuating the switching device, so that the motor is connected to a power source which drives it at a speed normally producing the constant playback or recording speed. Manually actuated pushbutton controls are connected to the switching device and the components of the capstan drive to allow selection of constant playback-recording speed, intermediate speed, or high speed fast forward.

摘要： A transport mechanism for driving a tape from reel to reel at recording-playback speed or fast forward speed is disclosed. A capstan drive is provided for driving the tape at constant recording-playback speed, and a direct drive via the take-up reel is provided for driving the tape at fast forward speed. The transport mechanism also includes an actuator for sequentially shifting the magnetic head used for recording or playback away from the tape before the tape is released from the capstan drive upon selection of fast foward speed, to eliminate sound caused by playback at high speed of the frequencies recorded on the tape.

摘要： A playback mechanism for a magnetic tape contained in a cartridge having the tape exposed in one end thereof and having a slot in a lateral face, the mechanism including a housing for receiving the cartridge which is inserted inwardly in endwise relation into operative position, a slidable element that is moved inwardly as the cartridge is inserted, a retention roller resiliently mounted to act generally perpendicularly to the lateral space for holding the cartridge in its operative position, the element having a surface for holding the retention roller out of contact with the cartridge until the cartridge approaches its operative position wherein it is released to contact the slot and hold the cartridge in its operative position.
