摘要: A fusion splicing device according to an embodiment is a fusion splicing device of an optical fiber performing fusion-splicing by position-aligning the optical fiber that is a splicing target in a V-shaped groove. The fusion splicing device includes a microscope receiving light from a light source and passing through an optical fiber mounted on a V-shaped groove to obtain luminance information, a V-shaped groove driving unit moving the V-shaped groove, a storage unit storing a position of the V-shaped groove at which the microscope is focused, and an identification unit identifying the optical fiber. The position of the microscope is fixed. The V-shaped groove driving unit moves the V-shaped groove to a position stored in the storage unit. The identification unit identifies the optical fiber moved to the position.

摘要: An optical fiber fusion splicing method for performing fusion splicing through positioning of optical fibers to be spliced in a V-groove is provided. The optical fiber fusion splicing method includes pressing the optical fibers placed in the V-groove relatively toward the V-groove using a clamp, varying a clamp pressure of the clamp pressing the optical fibers, and moving the optical fibers placed in the V-groove with respect to the V-groove in an axial direction.

摘要: A device for fusion splicing, by an arc discharge, a pair or a plurality of pairs of optical fibers arranged so that end surfaces thereof face each other. An optical fiber arrangement portion positions the pair or the plurality of pairs of optical fibers between a pair of electrodes. A control portion controls a voltage applied to the pair of electrodes. The control portion generates a first discharge between the pair of electrodes, stops the first discharge between the pair of electrodes, and then generates an arc discharge between the pair of electrodes to fusion-splice the pair or the plurality of pairs of optical fibers to each other. A discharge time of the first discharge is 200 milliseconds or less. A time from stopping the first discharge to starting the arc discharge is 100 milliseconds or less.

摘要: A fusion splicing device according to one embodiment includes: a discharge electrode; a microscope acquiring luminance information from the optical fiber; a distribution information acquisition unit acquiring distribution information indicating a relationship between a position of the optical fiber in a radial direction and the luminance information; and a core position specification unit specifying a position of a core of the optical fiber from the distribution information. The microscope acquires the luminance information multiple times. The distribution information acquisition unit acquires the distribution information from each of a plurality of the luminance information. The core position specification unit specifies the position of the core of the optical fiber by performing weighting so that a weight of the distribution information based on the luminance information acquired earlier is allowed to be equal to or heavier than a weight of the distribution information based on the luminance information acquired later.
