    Abstract: A remote controller for operating an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a user input component configured to receive user input from a user and a communication circuit configured to transmit an instruction to operate at least one of the UAV or a load carried by the UAV based on the user input. The remote controller is configured to transform between (1) a single-hand operation mode that enables the user to control an operation of the at least one of the UAV or the load using the user input from a single hand while being held by the single hand, and (2) a multi-hand operation mode that enables the user to control the operation of the at least one of the UAV or the load using at least two hands while holding the remote controller using the at least two hands.

The dial wheel mechanism includes a support, a positioning member disposed at the support, and a rotating member rotatably disposed at the support. The positioning member includes an elastic arm. The rotating member is configured to rotate relative to the support, causing the elastic arm to abut against the support and to be elastically deformed.

    Abstract: A remote controller includes a main body of control device, a dial wheel mechanism arranged at the main body of control device, and a controller configured to obtain rotation angle information of the dial wheel mechanism and control movement of an external device according to the rotation angle information. The dial wheel mechanism includes a support, a positioning member disposed at the support, and a rotating member rotatably disposed at the support. The positioning member includes a positioning element and at least one elastic arm disposed at the positioning element. The rotating member is configured to rotate relative to the support, causing the at least one elastic arm to abut against the support and to be elastically deformed. The rotating member includes multiple positioning slots to engage with the positioning element, which is configured to selectively engage with one of the positioning slots.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for multi-orientation flight. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may be capable of flight in a first orientation and a second orientation that may be different from the first orientation. For example, a UAV may include one or more electronic speed control (ESC) units that may control direction of rotation of one or more propulsion units depending on the orientation of the UAV, to generate lift for the UAV. The one or more propulsion units may include protective covers that may protect one or more rotating components of the propulsion units when the UAV is on a landing surface in the first orientation or the second orientation. The UAV may change orientation on the landing surface or while in flight, in response to a sensed condition and/or instructions from a remote user.
