摘要： A memory card mounted in a general purpose ATA expansion memory location in a separate electronic device, such as a high-class digital camera, includes a data communication feature for transmitting the memory contents to a mobile station. Expansion cards containing memory which can be written and read are called Compact Flash, in accordance with the Flash EEPROM memory contained in small-sized cards. The data communication is performed on a short-range, low power radio frequency (LPRF) link. The memory card is also applicable for instance in a personal digital PDA notebook, where the input data can be stored in an expansion memory. The duplex feature of the expansion memory enables the data to be transmitted at a radio frequency to a mobile station. The data communication features of the wireless device are available for forwarding the data.

摘要： The present invention relates to a terminal to be coupled to a telecommunications network using radio communication, which consists of a computer (100) and a radio module (200) to be coupled thereto. The radio module is connected to the computer using a digital bus coupling, for example a PCMCIA bus. This terminal can be connected to a telecommunications network using radio communication, for example, the GSM system. It is essential to the invention that the operations required in the transmission and reception of a message and their performance have been divided between the computer and the radio module. Two alternative embodiments are presented. In the first embodiment, the radio module contains ancillary processors (213, 214) to achieve a sufficient calculation capacity; in the second embodiment, the computer's processor (110) performs the main part of the required processing. The necessary radio frequency elements (230) are located in the radio module.

The receptor device 20 is arranged to monitor the activity or usage of the device, and determine or predict therefrom a period of low device activity. In such a low period of activity, content transfer control means, in the form of a controller 21, is arranged to initiate the transfer of an item of content from the provider device 40 to the receptor device 20. The content may be secondary content such as text information from a television signal. Compression, decompression or other processor intensive tasks, such as preparing the content according to the output capabilities, may also be performed during times of low device activity.
