Abstract: Provided is a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including: a light source; a light guide plate; and a bottom chassis comprising an accommodating portion, a light source cover configured to accommodate the light source, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall, the accommodating portion comprising a first accommodating portion and a second accommodating portion detachably coupled with each other, wherein the light source cover is formed on a first edge of the first accommodating portion, the first sidewall is formed on a second edge of the first accommodating portion, and the second sidewall is formed on an edge of the second accommodating portion.
