    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel, a backlight unit, and support members. The display panel displays an image, and a first edge section, a middle section, and a second edge section are defined on the display panel. The backlight unit outputs light toward the display panel. The support members are disposed between the display panel and the backlight unit corresponding to the first and second edge sections, and the support members space the display panel from the backlight unit. A spacing distance between the display panel and the backlight in each of the first and second edge sections is greater than a spacing distance between the display panel and the backlight unit in the middle section.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a display panel includes providing a mother substrate in which a plurality of display cell areas is defined from which the display panel will be formed, the display cell areas arranged in along first and directions and each include a display unit cell corresponding to the display panel, and a dummy area extended along the second direction from the display unit cell dividing the mother substrate into the display unit cells each having the dummy area extended therefrom, by performing a wheel cutting process; separating the dummy area from the divided display unit cell by performing a laser cutting process; and curving the display unit cell from which the dummy area is separated, with reference to a reference axis which is parallel to the second direction, to form the display panel.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display member which displays an image and a light source which provides light to the display member. The display member includes a base substrate including a front surface, a rear surface, and a plurality of side surfaces which connects the front surface to the rear surface, where the base substrate receives the light through a side surface of the side surfaces and has a first refractive index, a low refractive layer disposed on the front surface and having a second refractive index less than the first refractive index, and an array layer disposed on the low refractive layer and including at least one thin film transistor. The low refractive layer has a predetermined thickness, which is greater than a penetration depth of the light in the low refractive layer.
