Abstract: A display device includes a driving frequency calculator configured to divide output image data into central, intermediate, and peripheral images respectively corresponding to central, intermediate, and peripheral visual field regions, calculate spatial frequencies of the central image, the intermediate image, and the peripheral image, calculate critical flicker frequencies of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region based on the spatial frequencies and based on viewing angles of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region, and determine driving frequencies of the central visual field region, the intermediate visual field region, and the peripheral visual field region based on the critical flicker frequencies, and a display panel configured to display an image based on the output image data and based on the driving frequencies.

Abstract: A display device includes a display panel that emits light in response to a panel driving signal, a panel driver that provides the panel driving signal to the display panel, and a driving controller that receives an image signal at a current frame rate and controls driving of the panel driver based on the image signal and a control signal. The driving controller includes a comparing unit that compares a reference frame rate and the current frame rate and outputs a duty control signal when the current frame rate is less than the reference frame rate, a duty control unit that controls a current duty ratio of a current emission period of the display panel based on the duty control signal, and a luminance control unit that controls luminance of each of the pixels based on the current duty ratio.

Abstract: A display device includes: a display panel including a plurality of pixels; and a panel driver that drives the display panel at a target refresh rate different from a previous refresh rate. The panel driver includes: a comparator which compares a difference value between the previous refresh rate and the target refresh rate with a reference value generated by multiplying the previous refresh rate by a predetermined reference percentage; and a determiner which determines a final count of at least one compensation frame to be inserted between a previous driving frame operating at the previous refresh rate and a target driving frame operating at the target refresh rate when the difference value is not less than the reference value, where the final count is a total number of the at least one compensation frame, and a natural number.
