Abstract: An apparatus and method for reference-based card enrollment for secondary devices are provided. The method includes receiving information of a payment instrument from a first device, transmitting the information of the payment instrument to a payment network, receiving, by the payment system, a unique account reference identification (ID) corresponding to the payment instrument, and using the account reference ID to enable a second device to use the payment instrument.
