A method and an electronic device for providing content are provided. The electronic device includes a voice input module configured to receive a voice input, an audio output module, a display, a memory configured to store a voice recognition application which provides content in response to the voice input, and a processor configured to execute the voice recognition application and determine an output scheme of the content to be outputted through the audio output module or the display based on a status of the voice recognition application or an operating environment of the electronic device.

Provided are a method and related mobile device for editing, in an integrated, convenient and quick manner, various menu pages selectively used for a home screen. In response to a given input signal, the mobile device outputs a page edit screen including a specific page displayed on the home screen. Then, in response to subsequent input signals, the mobile device may add a new page, delete a selected page, change a title of a selected page, move or remove a selected icon in a page, change a background image of a selected page, or change a positional order of pages.

A touch input device and method for a portable device that is capable of inputting various user commands with diversified touch events detected on a touch screen is provided. A touch input method for a mobile terminal having a touch screen may include displaying a plurality of representative images representing content objects on the touch screen, selecting at least one representative image in response to a first command designated for a first touch event on the touch screen, and executing a second command designated for a second touch event on the touch screen. The second touch event may be defined by a movement direction, speed, a lift position of a touch, and the representative images selected by the first command.

The method for operating applications includes: displaying a contact tray comprised of a number of tray items based on contact information, on an execution screen; receiving an interaction to use a tray item in the contact tray; configuring an execution screen for an application based on contact information of the tray item; and operating the application based on the configured execution screen.

Disclosed is a portable terminal operation method and a portable terminal supporting the same that enable rapid and convenient operation of a user function in relation to a particular item on a touch screen. The method includes: outputting an area in which one or more scrollable items are arranged; appointing a particular item when a first touch event occurs, determining if a second touch event occurs on the appointed item within a range in which item scrolling does not occur; and changing at least one of a part of a color, and a shape of an image, corresponding to the appointed particular item according to the occurrence of the second touch event.
