Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system. Disclosed is a method of receiving a video segment from at least one streaming server by a client device using hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) adaptive streaming in a wireless network. The method includes: acquiring media presentation description (MPD) information by receiving an MPD file from the streaming server and parsing the received MPD file; determining a first parameter to minimize a cost function considering both energy consumption required for receiving a video segment and video quality of the segment based on the MPD information; requesting at least one video segment to the at least one streaming server during a first segment request round based on the first parameter; and receiving the at least one video segment from the at least one streaming server.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to technology for a sensor network, machine to machine (M2M) communication, machine type communication (MTC), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure can be utilized in intelligent services (such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, healthcare, digital education, retail business, security and safety-related services) based on the technology. The present disclosure relates to a method for a terminal for a position-based service, comprising the steps of: detecting a first signal related to a position of the position-based service in a first mode of scanning the first signal; and determining whether to switch to a second mode of transmitting a second signal related to a position of the terminal according to second mode related information included in the first signal.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for controlling a data flow for multiple paths in a receiving node of a communication system. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive data for a specific sub-flow among a plurality of sub-flows; a controller configured to calculate an optimal transmission rate of the received data, determine a window reference value for generating the optimal transmission rate, and generate an artificial response message if a window size for the specific sub-flow is greater than or equal to the window reference value; and a transmitter configured to transmit the artificial response message to a transmitting node.
Abstract:
A method for buffering data in an adaptive streaming service according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises the steps of: measuring a per-session throughput and an available bandwidth with respect to traffic generated from a streaming application; determining a number of multiple sessions based on the per-session throughput and the available bandwidth; determining a buffer size for pre-storing data based on a cache hit ratio of the streaming application; and generating at least one request message requesting data based on the number of multiple sessions and the buffer size, and transmitting the at least one request message to a server.
