Abstract: An electronic device and a method for performing beam searching by using a multi-polarization array antenna are provided. To this end the electronic device controls one or a plurality of antenna modules to operate such that at least two antenna elements among the plurality of antenna elements use beams having different directions at a specific time period, and control the at least two antenna elements to receive, in a corresponding beam direction, reference signals having a unique polarization characteristic supported by the at least two antenna elements.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electronic device including an antenna module including a first antenna element and a second antenna element, and a processor operatively connected to the antenna module. The processor may be configured to transmit a first signal through the first antenna element, to receive a second signal including a signal obtained as the first signal is reflected by a target object, through the second antenna element, to calculate a distance from the antenna module to the target object based on a phase of the second signal, and to reduce a power level of the antenna module when the distance to the target object is smaller than a reference distance. In addition, various embodiments as understood from the specification are also possible.

Abstract: A mobile electronic device may be configured to identify multiple beams is provided. The mobile electronic device includes a first beam and a second beam for communication with at least one base station, when the first beam and the second beam correspond to the same first direction, identify a third beam which corresponds to a direction differing from the first direction and has a strength of a signal received from the at least one base station, the strength being equal to or greater than a designated value, when the identification of the third beam fails, apply, to the first beam and the second beam, a power back-off for multiple beams corresponding to the same direction, so as to perform communication with the at least one base station, and when the third beam is identified, change the second beam to the third beam and perform communication with the at least one base station without applying the power back-off for multiple beams corresponding to the same direction and by using the first beam and the third beam.
