Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. There is disclosed a method, for a second base station in a network comprising a User Equipment (UE), a first base station, and the second base station. The method is for performing Random Access Channel (RACH)-less handover of the UE from the first base station to the second base station. The method comprises: obtaining a Conditional Handover (CHO) configuration (e.g., execution condition); determining a RACH-less Uplink (UL) grant configuration; transmitting, to the first base station, the RACH-less UL grant (e.g., in a HANDOVER REQUEST ACK message); and monitoring for UL RACH-less transmissions from the UE (e.g., a RRCConnectionReconfigurationComplete message) or scheduling Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) assignments to the UE, based on the CHO configuration.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) or 6th generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, a first system information block (SIB) associated with satellite assistance information, the first SIB including first information on serving cell ephemeris and second information on a validity duration of the serving cell ephemeris, and receiving, from the base station, a second system information block (SIB) associated with neighbor satellite information based on a first timer with a duration of the validity duration of the serving cell ephemeris and a second timer for an acquisition of the first SIB before a radio link failure (RLF), the second SIB including third information on neighbor cell ephemeris.
