A digital photographing apparatus includes: an image pickup lens; an image pickup device that generates an image signal; an iris that controls an amount of the light transmitted through the image pickup lens; a shutter that controls exposure; a focus detector that detects focus using light transmitted through a predetermined exit pupil region of the lens; and a timing unit that controls a time for closing and/or opening the shutter, when the image pickup device outputs image information, where regardless of the time for closing and/or opening the shutter, the focus detector detects a focus when the iris has an iris value for ensuring transmission of a light flux used to detect the focus, after the exposure is finished. To precisely perform auto focus (AF), the digital photographing apparatus performs continuous AF or simultaneously displays a live view in consideration of timing for adjusting the iris and timing for controlling the shutter.
Abstract:
An auto focus (AF) adjusting method, an AF adjusting apparatus, and a digital photographing apparatus including the same, the AF adjusting apparatus including: an AF calculator for calculating focus detection evaluation values; a peak detector for detecting a peak position of the focus detection evaluation values; and a speed calculator for calculating a moving speed of a subject by using the peak position. When continuous photographing of still images is performed, the peak detector detects the peak position in an image pickup interval before a light exposure preparation interval for image capturing, and the focus lens driver performs moving body compensation driving for compensating for a focal position by using a moving speed calculated in the light exposure preparation interval before capturing starts.

An apparatus and method of adjusting an auto focus are provided. The apparatus includes: an imaging pickup device for generating an image signal by capturing light passing through an imaging lens; a shutter for controlling light exposure of the image pickup device; a focus detector that calculates a contrast value from the image signal and detecting a focus from the contrast value; and a release controller for controlling a release operation constituting a photographing operation of a still image, wherein the release controller includes, as driving modes, a first mode that directs a focus lens included in the imaging lens to be driven while driving the shutter, and a second mode that directs the focus lens not to be driven while driving the shutter. Accordingly, a photographing time is reduced.

The lighting device includes a plurality of light sources configured as a solid state light-emitting device, and has a photographing auxiliary light function for allowing the solid state light-emitting device to be turned on to emit light during photographing and an autofocus (AF) auxiliary light function for allowing the solid state light-emitting device to be turned on to emit a predetermined amount of light when contrast AF is performed. The method of controlling an image plane phase difference digital image processing apparatus, the method includes, in a continuous photographing mode for continuously capturing still images, performing a first focus detection by detecting phase difference of an image captured during a first image capture; performing a second focus detection by detecting phase difference of an image captured during a second image capture; determining moving speed of an object based on results of the first focus detection and the second focus detection; and correcting focus location by driving a focusing lens based on the determined moving speed of the object.

An imaging device includes phase difference detection pixels. The imaging device receives an image formed by an optical system and includes a plurality of pixels that are two-dimensionally arranged. Each of the plurality of pixels include a micro lens; a photoelectric conversion unit positioned below the micro lens; and an optical aperture disposed between the micro lens and the photoelectric conversion unit and that is eccentric with respect to an optical axis of the micro lens, wherein the plurality of pixels of the imaging device output a signal for obtaining phase difference. The imaging device performs phase difference detection on the entire surface of a captured image without addition of pixels.
