Abstract:
A pointing apparatus using a piezoelectric film, a method for producing the apparatus, and apparatus and method for detecting pointing information therefor are provided. The pointing apparatus includes a plurality of first strips arranged in a first direction at a first predetermined interval, each of which is extended in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and is touched when a pointer is moved in the first direction, and a plurality of second strips, which are lapped over the plurality of the first strips and arranged in the second direction at a second predetermined interval, each of which is extended in the first direction and is touched when the pointer is moved in the second direction. Each of the first and second strips generates electric charges in a quantity corresponding to pressure applied by a user and outputs touch signals having levels corresponding to the quantity of the electric charges, and moving direction and amount of movement of the pointer are determined by the number of times and the order in which the touch signals are generated. The pointing apparatus can be folded and thus is convenient to carry, can input pointing information by using the part of the human body, for example, finger(s) without a special tool such as a ball or pen, and thus is convenient to use and its manufacturing costs can be reduced.
Abstract:
A host apparatus includes an ultrasound receiving unit receiving an ultrasound signal from a pointing apparatus and outputting an electric signal. A controlling unit calculates a position of a pointer on a display screen corresponding to a position of the pointing apparatus based on the electric signal from the ultrasound receiving unit, and outputs a control signal to the display screen to position the pointer at the calculated position of the display screen.
Abstract:
A key switch of a keyboard of the present invention includes a key cap and an elastic body which supports and allows the key cap to elastically move up and down. The elastic body is a band shaped structure and includes end portions which are pivotally supported above a substrate, a central portion bulged to contact a bottom surface of the key cap, and curved portions having a curvature opposite to that of the central portion disposed between corresponding ones of the end portions and the central portion. The curved portions of the elastic body are deformed at a position lower than an upper surface of the substrate. Therefore, the overall height of the key switch can be reduced, allowing for the manufacture of a slimmer keyboard unit.
