Abstract: A display driver circuit receives externally-encoded image data and processes the data using a memory (graphic RAM), an internal encoder, and an external decoder configured to operate on the externally-encoded image data. The processed data is provided to a display device by a source driver of the display driver circuit. Data is processed through the graphic RAM and an internal decoder or the external decoder depending on whether a slice of the data is a currently received update slice, a recently received standby slice, or a still slice.

Abstract: Provided are a low-power display driving circuit performing internal encoding and decoding and an operating method thereof. The display driving circuit includes a memory configured to store an input bit stream encoded by an encoder and a controller configured to determine a data path through which output frame data in a second frame period passes according to whether internal encoding is successful in a first frame period, wherein, when the internal encoding is successful, the controller performs internal encoding in the second frame period, stores a generated internal bit stream in the memory, allows the internal bit stream to pass through a low-power path to generate the output frame data, and when the internal encoding fails, the controller generates the output frame data by allowing the input bit stream to pass through a normal path in the second frame period, changes an encoding setting of an internal encoder, and repeats the internal encoding.

Abstract: An electroluminescent display device includes a display panel including pixels, a storage circuit, a luminance compensation circuit and a data driver. The storage circuit stores information on a leakage curve indicating a luminance change value of a target pixel according to a change of an input pixel value of a neighboring pixel, the plurality of pixels including the target pixel and the neighboring pixel. The luminance compensation circuit receives input pixel values corresponding to the pixels and generates compensated pixel values respectively corresponding to the pixels by compensating for lateral leakage based on the leakage curve, where the lateral leakage is caused by leakage currents through a common conduction layer of the pixels. The data driver drives the pixels based on the compensated pixel values. The exact (or close) luminance of the input image is realized by compensating for the luminance distortion.

Abstract: A method of compensating luminance in an electroluminescent display device including a display panel including pixels is provided. A global current value is generated based on input pixel values corresponding to the pixels where the global current value indicates a global current flowing through the display panel. With respect to each of the input pixel values, a global compensation value indicating a global luminance deviation according the global current is generated based on the input pixel value and the global current value. A gamma compensation value indicating a gamma distortion is generated based on the input pixel value where the gamma distortion is caused by compensating the input pixel value. A compensated pixel value is generated based on the input pixel value, the global compensation value and the gamma compensation value.
