Abstract: A method and device for operating an electronic device having a communication function are provided. The method includes transmitting location information of the electronic device; receiving a notification message notifying of an inbound message in association with the location information; receiving a user input related to the notification message; and receiving the inbound message in response to the user input. The electronic device includes a communication module; a display module; and a processor configured to control the communication module and the display module based on information detected on the display module, wherein the processor is further configured to control displaying at least one section among a plurality of location-based sections via the display module, receiving a user input made on the displayed section; receiving content input via the display module, and transmitting the content based on the displayed at least one section and at least part of the user input.
