    摘要: A one-dimensional LUT has been incapable of color matching. A three-dimensional LUT has been incapable of ensuring a color conversion accuracy enough to reproduce fine changes in color tone on a monochrome image. It has been impossible to suppress a storage capacity for a color conversion table by ensuring the accuracy.There is provided a color conversion table which has a plurality of pieces of reference color image data making correspondence between color data for a first image device and color data for a second image device and comprises a specified total information amount. The color conversion table is used to distribute the reference color image data over a prescribed area in a specified color space. Color data information for each reference color image data is increased more than a specified amount within a limit of the specified total information amount. Further, a color conversion table is created using an original table which highly accurately defines colors in part of the color conversion table. If these color conversion tables are referenced for color conversion, it is possible to suppress the storage capacity, provide color matching, and perform high accuracy color conversion.

Color to be reproduced on a print medium according to any one input color is termed “reproduction color”, and the combination of ink quantities in the ink set for reproducing the reproduction color on the print medium is termed the “color separation ink quantity set.” The ink quantity of the spot color ink included in the color separation ink quantity set is adjusted in accordance with a lightness parameter value which is correlated to lightness of reproduction color, so as to reduce ink quantity at a rate of change greater than the rate of change of the lightness parameter in the direction of increasing brightness.

    摘要: In a printer that enables creation of at least two variable-size dots, that is, a larger-size dot and a smaller-size dot, the technique of the present invention extracts pixels constituting the contour of a shape, for example, a letter or a figure, and allocates the smaller-size dot to the extracted contour pixels. Compared with creation of the larger-size dot, creation of the smaller-size dot in the contour pixels results in a smoother contour and effectively prevents the contour from being undesirably thickened. A favorable procedure to further improve the picture quality of a resulting printed image causes a position of creating a predetermined-size dot among the at least two variable-size dots to be shifted in a preset direction from a position of creating another dot among the at least two variable-size dots. After the extraction of the contour pixels, the procedure selects one of the at least two variable-size dots, which is to be created in each of the extracted contour pixels, based on information on a higher resolution than the printing resolution. The information on the higher resolution may be externally given in the form of image data or alternatively obtained by the image processing, such as interpolation.

    摘要: The conventional print-controlling apparatus performs printing with CMY inks and additional inks having a lower lightness than CMY inks, which are mixed in a specific ratio when ejected from the print head, so that colors in the entire range from low to high lightness are expressed. Unfortunately, chromatic color inks differing in hue from CMY inks have a low lightness or a high density, and this leads to poor granularity in the region of high lightness. This disadvantage is eliminated if color conversion is accomplished by using the granularity improvement LUT 15c that limits the deposition of RV inks. In this way it is possible to limit the ejection of RV inks in the region of high lightness and to improve the ink granularity in the region of high lightness.
