The resource allocation method includes detecting a channel transmission capacity when a signal is transmitted from a single Relay Station (RS) to a Mobile Station (MS), by a Base Station (BS), detecting a channel transmission capacity when transmitting a signal produced by using signal combining by two or more RSs to the MS, by the BS, selecting a channel transmission capacity with a larger gain between the detected channel transmission capacity of the single RS and the detected channel transmission capacity of the two or more RSs, by the BS; and selecting the signal transmitted by the single RS or the signal produced by using the signal combining by the two or more RSs having the selected channel transmission capacity with the larger gain, and then transmitting the selected signal to the MS.

The packets are selected from the packet groups, links corresponding to the packets are grouped into a link group, a joint power control is performed on the link group, link elimination and link addition are performed for the link group until optimal solutions are achieved for the links group, channels are allocated to the links when the optimal solutions are achieved for the links, and the status of a user queue is updated.

A method, apparatus and system for increasing cell capacity through optional signal combining between Relay Stations (RSs) in a cellular system using wired RSs is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a Base Station (BS), an average Carrier-to-Interference ratio (C/I) value of transmission signals from Mobile Stations (MSs) located inside each coverage area, being fed back from the RSs or the MSs in its corresponding cell; classifying the MSs into two groups according to the C/I value; performing resource allocation satisfying a minimum data rate from a corresponding RS, for MSs belonging to a group having a C/I value greater than a preset threshold Γ among the classified groups; performing resource allocation by applying an optional signal combining scheme taking into account two RSs having a highest C/I value, for MSs belonging to a group having a C/I value below the threshold among the classified groups; and allocating all unallocated subchannels of each individual RS in an order of an MS having a high C/I value among MSs of a corresponding RS until there is no more unallocated subchannel of each RS.

A scheduling method in a distributed antenna system is provided. Each of a plurality of Mobile Stations (MSs), respectively corresponding to each subchannel, are classified as a Single Transmission (ST) MS or a Cooperative Transmission (CT) MS according to a CT criterion. An MS with a maximum channel capacity is selected from among the classified MSs. Resources arc allocated to a corresponding subchannel when the selected MS is the ST MS, and resources arc allocated using a CT scheduling technique when the selected MS is the CT MS. The classifying, selecting and allocating steps are repeated until allocation of resources is completed.
